Master Karin is a hermit of the Karin Tower (named after him). The Karin Tower Temple serves as a gateway linking the human world to the Palace of God, which lies above the top of the Karin Tower. It holds many artifacts useful throughout the anime, such as the divine elixir, or the Senzus.

Master Karin is the third master Son Gok will meet in the anime; he was the master of Muten Rshi, several centuries before the start of Dragon Ball. A few martial arts experts know of him, such as Tao Pai Pai, although he thinks he’s just a legend.

He keeps many rare objects that will be decisive for Son Gok and his family, such as Senzus, the beans that heal wounds, a huge cloud where Kam Sennin acquired Kinto’un, and Son Gok’s Nyoi-b staff that links Karin’s palace to that of God.

Unlike Muten Rshi, Karin’s role, though discreet due to the location in which he finds himself, will sometimes be decisive. He effectively gauges Son Gok and Cell’s potential. He maintains that something has been going on on Earth for some years, having to do with Babidi’s secret infiltration.
