Gol D. Roger, better known as Gold Roger, was the previous and only Pirate King and the former owner of the legendary treasure, the One Piece.

He was also the father of Portgas D. Ace, a child he had with Portgas D. Rouge. He was executed more than 20 years ago in Loguetown, his hometown.

Roger was the captain of the Roger Pirates, the only crew to have made it to the end of the Grand Line and to see the islands of Lodestar and Laugh Tale.

To achieve this feat, Roger could count on his monstrous crew with legendary pirates like Rayleigh and Scopper Gaban, as well as on his own power.

Indeed, according to his rivals Whitebeard and Shiki, when Roger got angry, he became a true monster capable of sweeping away admirals and entire pirate crews.
