Jiraiya was a Sannin of the hidden village of Konoha. Known as a sage and a pervert with prodigious techniques, Jiraiya traveled the world in search of knowledge that could help his friends, inspire his various novels, and, posthumously, benefit the world as a wholeknowledge he passed on to his godson and final student, Naruto Uzumaki.

Jiraiya is a highly versatile ninja, excelling in almost all ninja arts except Genjutsu, where he is notoriously weak by his own admission. However, he compensates for this lack with the summoning of toads, who are specialized in this field, allowing him to excel everywhere else.

He is one of the three legendary ninjas and a disciple of the 3rd Hokage, which gives him considerable fame, and he rightfully holds it, as very few shinobi would dare to challenge him. Even Itachi and Kisame refrained from facing him in a two-on-one duel.
