Ichigo Kurosaki is a Human with the unique ability to see ghosts. His life changed when he met Rukia Kuchiki, who granted him Shinigami powers to save his family from a Hollow.

White is a nearly all-black Hollow, but Ssuke Aizen named him ironically: White has a black exterior but a “white interior” due to his origins as a Shinigami’s soul.
